Online Game Development Camp June 9-13
Greetings Online Game Development Camp participants and parents!
Important Pre-Camp Information
Hello Game Campers and Family,
Hello Game Campers and Family,
Thank you for being a part of the Online Game Development Camp here at IU. The last five years of our Online Game Development Camp were a big success, so we are excited to continue on with another exciting session this year!
In order to better prepare your students for the coming camp we have some things we would like you to check to make sure they get the most out of the week. These tools and technology will be used throughout the camp so it is best to make sure they are all functioning and you are familiar with them before the camp begins.
Computer- Can be Mac or PC, doesn’t need to be a high-performance machine. Tablets not recommended, but if you have a keyboard hooked into it, that could work.
Webcam & Microphone – Students will communicate with other students, counselors, and other developers via a webcam and microphone. Please make sure you have them operational before the camp begins.
Zoom – Zoom will be the core of how we communicate during the camp. Each day you will go to the link below to join the room. If you aren't familiar with using Zoom, we recommend you download the Zoom app and make a free account. You can then test the link below at any time before the camp. It won't fully let you into the room before the start of camp, but if you make it to the "Waiting Room" screen, you are all set!
On each day of the camp at 9:45am EST we will allow students to begin entering the Zoom room via the following link. At 10am EST the camp will officially start. The camp runs daily, 6/9-6/13, from 10am-4pm EST.
Meeting ID: 821 1529 8116
Construct 3 – Construct 3 is a web-based game development engine that we will be using to build games in. It is also free and requires only an email to get an account registered. Again it would serve us well if an account could be created before the camp begins. To create a free Construct account, visit this site:
If you have any pre-camp questions, please contact the camp director, Andrew Behringer at gamecamp@iu.edu / 812-856-8083 and he can assist you. If you have any technical issues when attempting to sign on in the morning, please first try reaching Michael Betar (assistant to the Director) at (812) 340-3449. If he is unavailable, then please try reaching Andrew,
Lastly, as a reminder, we will be taking a break each day for lunch. Campers may leave the Zoom room to go eat or they may also stay and socialize with the campers and counselors.
